Our Story

A woman with artistic makeup, including drawn eye and eyelash designs, and makeup on lips and chin resembling a black spider with extended legs, wearing multiple earrings and beaded hair accessories.

Atelier Sleeba was born from the desire to explore the intersection of identity and expression, to challenge the very meaning of luxury at a time where honesty and curiosity are rapidly losing its value.

We invite you to abandon your fears and embrace the unconventional as we lift the veil to explore the darker side of the unexplored; dive deeper into ways we can uphold the artistry of fashion as a cultural dialogue.

Every piece is aimed to deliver elegance, playfulness and personality as we meld time-honoured traditions with contemporary innovations.

We aspire to be the platform that brings awareness to endangered crafts and heritage textiles as we celebrate the people who inspire us and bring life to our pieces. We intend to build a future where we can encourage and create dialogue while ensuring transparency in fashion.

Meet Our Founder

Two women shaking hands at a formal event, with one woman wearing a traditional saree and the other in a modern outfit, in front of a green wall with framed floral artwork.

Sarah Jane Sleeba is the founder and creative director of Atelier Sleeba, a couture house built on the belief that true luxury is created through time, integrity, and craft. Based between London and India, her work explores the intersection of cultural sustainability, emotional storytelling, and avant-garde design—using fashion as a medium to preserve endangered artisanal knowledge.

Sarah’s journey began not in studios or showrooms, but within artisan communities. While working with the Kasuti craft cluster in Dharwad, India, she lived alongside weavers and embroiderers whose skills had been passed down for generations, yet whose livelihoods were increasingly threatened by industrial replication and underpayment. Witnessing this imbalance firsthand shaped her conviction that luxury fashion must take responsibility for the crafts it draws from—and that preservation cannot exist without dignity and fair systems of work.

Atelier Sleeba was founded as a response to this reality. The brand is conceived as a slow, deliberate couture practice—one that collaborates directly with artisan communities across India and the UK to create garments rooted in heritage, yet expressed through contemporary form. Each piece is developed with patience and intention, allowing traditional techniques to evolve rather than be imitated.

Alongside building her label, Sarah continues to work within the couture sector in London, contributing to high-level bespoke projects and refining her approach to precision, process, and longevity at the highest level of luxury. Her previous experience includes work within. Couture & VIP team at Alexander McQueen, supporting bespoke, high-profile projects across London and Paris. Her experience within a major couture house has shaped her understanding of precision, process, and longevity at the highest level of luxury. She was also selected for the Modern Artisan programme by YOOX NET-A-PORTER and The King’s Foundation, where she developed a sustainable luxury collection and was personally congratulated by King Charles III.

Through Atelier Sleeba, Sarah’s aspiration is to create work that outlives seasons and trends. Garments that carry the hands, histories, and cultures that shaped them. Fashion crafted without haste, made without compromise, and remembered beyond the moment.
